Jumper Teleports To The Screen

“Darth Vader” Hayden Christensen and “Mace Windu” Samuel Jackon face off in their new film “Jumper”

Hayden’s character “David” has the gift to create “wormholes” to teleport from one location to another but he needs to visualize the destination to get there. Learning his “gift” he enriches himself via bank robberies and lead a teen’s dream of independence from it all; A Ritzy Condo and the ability to teleport to any place in the world.

Samuel Jackson’s character “Roland” is an agent for the NSA who goes after “Jumpers” with a deadly relish using a taser that looks very similiar to a light sabre handle.A lot of action scenes using the teleport stunt was used with great effect. Love the action with the Benz in Tokyo’s Ginza district teleporting through the wrong lane.

Actors performance were just good, nothing more, the film is light PG entertainment. Diane Lane and Michael Rooker as dysfunctional parents are an afterthought. Diane Lane’s involvement isn’t explained too much. Jamie Bell’s role as rogue Jumper “Griffin” brings in a rough/tough side giving a good add to the mix while Rachel Bilson’s “Millie” plays the love interest.

SFX and stunts are top notch but definitely not an intellectual film. No explanation for Jumpers origins nor Jackson’s reason to exterminate (”Only God can have this power”) them.

The film has sequels in mind just imagine “Heroes” the Movie minus the other heroes.
