Paramount is in talks with director Matt Reeves, producer JJ Abrams and writer Drew Goddard for a sequel to their monster hit” Cloverfield”.

How soon production will begin depends on Paramount et al in signing a deal. Matt Reeves is also slated to direct “The Invisible Woman” for GreeneStreet Films. JJ Abrams is directing “Star Trek” and producing “Fringe” for Fox Network.

“The Invisible Woman” is a Hitchcockian thriller seen through a beauty queen’s eyes who turns to a criminal lifestyle.Nothing definite on what film will be developed first but everything’s pointing to “Cloverfield 2″. No title has been set, release date - 2009.

Possible storyline may involve other survivors who were video documenting the monster’s attack on New York plus more details on the monster’s origins. Abrams says that they wouldn’t rush developing a sequel, it has to be worthy of the first film and not a money-making venture.

Cloverfield has grossed $75,934,000 domestic and $46,620,000 international with $122,554,000 total box office.

The movie was made with a budget of $25 million.
